In Feb 2015, the dental profession took a step back with the surprise closing of an orthodontic practice in Brunswick, Ohio.  Many parents and patients were left without an orthodontic home for their continued specialty care.  The following is a public letter from Dr. Samuel G. Papandreas of Papandreas Orthodontics.

‘My heart goes out to those families so many of which I have already had the privilege of visiting with.  This is a travesty.  Orthodontists as a whole work very hard to earn and hold the trust of their patients, colleagues, and surrounding community.  While we all face challenges with our healthcare, your doctor disappearing in the middle of care is not one of them.  These patients must now find a new practice with much of their fee paid and insurance gone while still in braces and no defined end in sight.

I have been encouraged by the outpouring of support from my specialty colleagues.  Out there are many compassionate doctors willing to pick up on a plan they did not start, at fees resulting in a true loss to them just to help.  I ask the affected patients to do their research; be sure your new doctor is approachable, well-respected in the community, and a certified specialist to ensure your maximum result in the shortest timeline…this last time.

Your new home and spectacular smile is out there; as difficult as it may seem do not lose faith in the orthodontic community.

For my part Papandreas Orthodontics as of yesterday has added new hours in Brunswick to accommodate these patients.  My team is committed to contributing our resources, time, and effort with minimal cost to help.  Do not hesitate to call Brunswick (330) 558-9092 or North Royalton (440) 582-8585,  or email us at [email protected] for guidance.’
